GSTA Announces 2009 Tournament Calendar

The Greater Stamford Tennis Association and Stamford Recreation Services will host three tournaments this year at the Scalzi Park Tennis Courts -- the Stamford Spring Classic, May 15-17, the 2nd Annual Connecticut Public Parks Tennis Championships to benefit the Thomas Blake, Sr., Memorial Research Fund, July 17-19 (including the Pilot Pen Tennis Famiy Classic, July 18-19) and the 7th Annual Greater Stamford Tennis Championships, October 2-4.  The tournaments are intended to be two-day weekend events.  Friday play will only occur if singles fields exceed 16 players.

Online registration is available for all events -- except the Pilot Pen Tennis Family Classic.  See below for links to Tennislink to register on-line.

The Stamford Spring Classic will feature men’s and women’s singles (Open, NTRP 4.0 and 3.5) and doubles (Open and NTRP 4.0) and mixed doubles (Open and NTRP 4.5 and below).  Draw sizes are limited to 32 singles players are 16 doubles teams per division.  The tournament is sanctioned by USTA New England and is opened to all USTA members.  Entries must be received by Monday, May 11.  On-line registration is available thru Tennislink (event ID 450730709). 

The Connecticut Public Parks Tennis Championships will feature men’s and women’s singles (Open, NTRP 4.0 and 3.5, plus Men's 45s and Men's 55s) and doubles (Open and NTRP 4.0) and mixed doubles (Open and NTRP 4.5 and below).  Draw sizes are limited to 32 singles players are 16 doubles teams per division.  The tournament is sanctioned by USTA New England and is opened to all USTA members.  On-line registration is available thru Tennislink (event ID 450730909).  The Pilot Pen Tennis Family Classic is open to all players (no USTA membership require), however, there is no online registration for the event.  The Pilot Pen Tennis Family Classic offers Mother/Child and Father/Child events in three divisions (12-and-under, 14-and-under and 18-and-under) as well as an open Parent/Child event (for children over age 18) and a Husband/Wife event.  Children ranked in the Top 30 of their age group in the USTA New England rankings must play up one age group.  Entries for the Connecticut Public Parks Tennis Championships and Pilot Pen Tennis Family Classic must be received by Monday, July 13.

The 7th Annual Greater Stamford Tennis Championships will feature men’s and women’s singles (Open, NTRP 4.0 and 3.5) and doubles (Open and NTRP 4.0) and mixed doubles (Open and NTRP 4.5 and below).  Draw sizes are limited to 32 singles players are 16 doubles teams per division.  The tournament is sanctioned by USTA New England and is opened to all USTA members.  Entries must be received by Monday, Sept. 28.  On-line registration is available thru Tennislink (event ID 450729809).
